Hi Tarn29,

If you're bleeding, then yes, you need to get it checked out.

It might be haemorrhoids it might not. I'm sorry, I don't think that anyone here is going to be telling you one way or the other.

Best bet is to start by making an appointment with your GP. Discuss with her/him your concerns and symptoms I'm sure they can tell if there is a need for further investigation.

At 23 yo, chances are it's not cancer, but you never know. But either way, bleeding like that needs to be investigated.

Let us know how you go.

-s

Hi,

Im 23 years old,

My grandmother passed from bowel cancer 5 years ago. And its been in the family.

(Disclamer - blood)

It started of as mucus in my stools.

But....

Ive been having rectal bleeding for around 1 1/2 weeks now. Its alot of blood.

My poop is very sticky/tarry and is black.

It ranges from that to the runs.

Plus the smell is strong, the scent of blood.

Now it's gotten to the point where i just sit down to pee and blood comes out of my rectum.

My mum brushes me off and says its hemroids.

She doesnt seem concerned at all.

The amount of blood every day 2 -3 times a day is scary. Its really worrying and no one seems to care. Or brushes me off.

Im trying to see a specialist.

Im going to call in the morning.

Does it seem like just hemroids?
