Hi @kyleeae

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It can be a very stressful and overwhelming time when you are first diagnosed.

Here is some useful information about Emotions and Cancer and a link to our "coping toolbox" at Cancer Council.

We also have an information and support helpline that can be really helpful to speak to one of our health professionals about how you are feeling, and they have various support services they could offer to you. Please feel free to call them on 13 11 20.

Perhaps others in the forum could share about how they felt when they were first diagnosed and what they found helpful in coping through that difficult time?

Take care,

Hi,

I have recently been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. 2cm tumour has been removed with sentinel node biopsy - yet to get results (staging etc), and have been told hormone positive so treatments should have a positive outcome. Although I feel releived the tumour is out, I am struggling with anxiety - having panic attacks and taking a while to get myself "right" and in a better place. I have alot of support such as family, friends and I have a good working network - yet anxiety is still affecting me. Can I have some tips on how to overcome this or strategies to helpme being my own worst enemy?

I feel I have not taken this path well, I see others taking their diagnosis in strides. I do not feel brave and I feel like all of my strength I am usually known for has been completely wiped from me.
