Myeloma – Part 2 – My first 14 months

This post is a follow-up to my previous post - Myeloma – my first 10 months.

I wanted to share my continuing story as it may help to provide Hope to other cancer sufferers and their carers.

Over the last few months, I have had a Bone Marrow Biopsy, numerous blood tests and a Skeletal Survey. The results have been very encouraging – and my Haematologist has told me I am in a deep and full remission and the detailed biopsy show no presence of Myeloma.

Additionally, the Haematologist has reviewed my Skeletal Survey and feels that due to my deep remission, my 5 vertebrae compression fractures have experienced bone healing. Consequently, he suggested that I can return to Golf and Mountain Biking (which I have done cautiously and successfully for the last 2 months).

All this is encouraging, but: -

I am fully aware that there is always the chance that my Myeloma may relapse.

My spinal fractures have resulted in me losing around 5cm of height, my spine remains curved, and I still experience low level related back pain.

I would encourage cancer sufferers/carers to search out for the best care, explore if any drug trials are available and importantly, to look for ways to be at peace and avoid anxiety. I firmly believe that being at peace has contributed to the healing I have experienced so far.

In my previous post, I explained how I managed to remain peaceful and without anxiety during the last year. Myeloma – my first 10 months

Matthew 6:27 “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
