Hi @Sophia25 ,

I firstly want to welcome you to this space - I am really glad you found us receiving such devastating news on Friday night about your health. What you've described around the overwhelming avalanche of emotions that are making it really difficult to do the things you need to do is a natural experience under the circumstances. While it sounds like you have a good GP that has gone into detail about your results and the steps ahead, it can take time to really start to come to terms with such news.

Therapy is a common feature of treatment, both for you and your loved ones. There are a few ways you can access therapy and your GP is your one of the best ways to start the process. Alternatively, you can call us on 13 11 20 during business hours to talk with a health professional about your diagnosis, next steps, and how to access counselling support. Many people diagnosed also seek out the support of those going through a similar experience, much like this community here, as it can be a source of comfort on their journey. Learning more about the diagnosis and treatment can also be important and I encourage you to look over some of our resources here when you feel up to it. Receiving a diagnosis and a prognosis in one phone call can be extremely overwhelming to digest and sometimes reading over information like this can be distressing - pace yourself at this time and honour what you have capacity for one day at a time right now.

Do you have any loved ones supporting you right now also?

Take care of yourself and please keep us updated one how you are. We are always here.

I want to bundle those feelings up and put them somewhere so I can deal with them but I just don’t know how

I already know, having had a very candid phone consult with my GP just last night that my situation is very definitely grim ..

I need to know how to bundle up my feelings and come to terms with them very soon.. I have things I need and want to do but feel totally paralyzed by this overwhelming avalanche of feelings

has anyone else consulted a therapist .. ?
