Hi Maggiemoo,

I had one round of Four Lutate infusions. My blood count and bone marrow were compromised. The second round was postponed for 2 months and again for another month. My NETs team then decided it was better to wait until it became essential. That was 16 months ago.

My pNETs has grown slightly & the Mets in my liver has spread a little. In a conversation about restarting the Lutate, I was asked if I had a fall?........No, why?......it seems I have 3 fractured vertebrae in my lower Thoracic spine. Asking about that the hospital oncology registrar quite casually said, my bones were most likely damaged as a result of the Lutate.

Fortunately, I’m not in any pain with it, but I just wonder what round 2 is going to have me up for. Due to COVID and my weakened immunity, the oncologist doesn’t to take the risk right now.

Sometimes the treatment is more scary than the disease.

I hope your situation improves Maggiemoo, You shouldn’t be in pain & I wish you all the bast..

Has anyone experienced weakened bones from Radiation treatment?

I am 68 years old a retired nurse.

I had Radiation/ chemo treatment 2018 for uterine cancer.

In Nov 2019 I had sudden onset R. hip pain. CT scan revealed insufficient fractures right sacrum.

The Orthopedic Specialist whom I am currently seeing and arranging my pelvic surgery states the fractures are from effects of Radiation treatments. He described my bones as rotting, decaying, and will only get worse in time and if no intervention my pelvis will collapse. I am in constant pain while walking/standing. It is getting worse, I am now at risk of falls, and need to use a walking stick..

It is so debilitating and crippling my lifestyle. I was always active and independent person. I live alone with very little support.. My life is a misery on a daily basis.

What you're experiencing doesn't sound very nice at all! 😞

Has anyone else had experience with what Maggiemoo is going through?

HI Lindsay

Thanks for your reply.

This Lutate Radiotherapy treatment is new to me.

It sounds like it is very severe on the body knocking your blood count and bone marrow so quickly.

Good the 2nd round is postpones for while may give you time to repair your body from the 1st round.

I agree, the treatment can be more damaging than the disease..

Take care.

Everyone is different Maggiemoo, thanks for you well wishes. It did have a great effect in knocking the tumour backwards. I spoke with a man late last year who had all 4 rounds and NO side issues.

I guess it’s a bit of a lucky dip.....Stay healthy Maggiemoo. 🤞🤞

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about your condition!

It must be really hard for you to go through such pain, Have you discussed this with your doctor, what is he suggesting?

How are you doing recently, do you feel any better?

Best wishes!
