Bad Day

Bad Day

I had the first 3 monthly Specialist appointment after finishing chemo for pancreatic lymphoma today. White blood count was low urgent bloods arranged immediately, the PET scan should have been done shortly after cessation of chemo which hasn't happened because of a backlog at Canberra hospital. Specialist has now said I need to go to Liverpool to have the PET scan. The results of the urgent blood tests show a raised Alk Phos - what with having to go to Sydney to see a Rheumatologist for the chemo induced arthritis, which is of concern to the oncologist, is now worrying me. Not sure if I have reason to worry or not - is this the remainder of life after cancer?

Re: Bad Day

Waiting for test results and Doctor's opinions absolutely SUCKS! It's so bad that on this forum we even have a word for it- 'scanxiety'. There are a lot of people on here who can understand excatly what you mean. Hang in there- now may be a strategic time to pick up a needle and do a couple of stitches, or even pencil and colouring book and keep busy (or even plan a future project). Keep posting, too- we're all hear for you. xx

Re: Bad Day

Thanks little stitcher -made me smile - husband and I scrubbed the house instead - not as good as stitching though. Interesting that the Specialist said yesterday "... ring me tomorrow to get blood results" omitted to say she only works in the office on Thursday's - hate when they know full well no results can be supplied until next Thursday

Re: Bad Day

HappyDragon it is very stressful waiting for results,it's easy for me to say try and try and take it one day at a time but for me that is how I still keep focus ,I found listening to a relaxation tape eventually helped me settle ,I had a talk to a psychologist who helped change my mindset on how I approached ongoing treatments and concerns with the outcome of being diagnosed with Cancer. It is very normal to have these feelings and thoughts, you may be surprised with the inner strength you can draw on at this time.Best wishes kj
