Personalised content feed

Hello!

You may have noticed a new content feed on our Homepage, entitled Recommended for you.

This feed enables you to connect your social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as other networks such as Pinterest, Tumblr, YouTube and Flickr, to help serve up content from across the Cancer Council Online Community that is relevant for you.

This personalised content feed uses a service called Klout to power your profile, using your interests and expertise. Klout is wholly owned by Lithium, which is the technology that is behind our community.

Upon clicking Connect, you’ll be invited to join or login to Klout with your Facebook or Twitter account. Follow the instructions on screen to confirm your connected status.

Upon your return to the Cancer Council Online Community, the feed on the homepage will then show content that is more relevant for you and will, over time, serve up content for you.

You can manage your settings for this feed at any time, by:

  1. Select/click your profile at the top of the screen.
  2. Choose My settings from the options.
  3. Select the tab marked Profile Plus.

In this section, you can do the following:

  • Disconnect your profile at any time you choose.
  • Select your interests.
  • Manage your social networks.

Privacy concerns

Klout uses a separate privacy policy and terms of service, but they are not vastly different from our own. We have added a section to our Terms and Conditions to reflect this. Klout will never publish anything without your express permission and you can manage everything, as well as remove your connections at any time you choose to.

One other little tip is if you don't want your social networks to link through to your actual Facebook or Instagram profiles, make sure the tick in your profile settings is not selected, as seen below:

If you ever decide you do not want to display all of your social network profiles, or want to disconnect your community profile from Klout, head into your settings as above.

We hope that you enjoy this enhancement to your website, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the personalised content feed Smiley Happy
