It takes a while to get over having cancer . We sometimes see the fact that we are not over it as a weakness or that others will . Apart from that others don't really want to hear that we aren't over it fully .Of course some of us know that it will or may return . Whilst there is the need for check ups it's difficult to get away from the cancer . I don't think we should be expected to forget it at this stage . Bessyh ,counselling is a great idea .I has some through the Cancer Council a few months after my radiation finished . I had asked for it before radiation but went away for a week before radiation. On my return I found that my appointment came and went . I really needed it then but didn't do anything for a while . ... View more

Bessyh, I am sorry to read your diagnosis.This cancer is so often thought to be something else and most don't know till after a biopsy . I am guessing that you may have more surgery to ensure that they got it all and radiation may also follow this . What has been told to you about possible treatment ? I have read some of his books and enjoyed them immensely. I always hated the battling cancer terminology too ,years before I got cancer . It's never been a battle to me ,more of a struggle putting up with it's effects . I can't understand how that battle analogy caught on . It's so over-used ,as is the word "basically".
