Hi everyone. I came across this project that others have done several times recently and wondered if anyone else has done this or heard of someone doing it. I started yesterday. I created a book where I can put a photo per day and a bit of writing, to represent something that has happened in my day. The challenge is to choose just one photo everyday for 365 days.. I put my Christmas tree up yesterday, being the 1st December, its tradition for me even though my family have grown and moved away. So that is the first photo for my book. Would love to know if any one has seen one done or finished. LOL hopefully I wont get sick of it. It gives me motive for each day, no matter how small. 🙂 I am also going to incorporate a grateful line on each page. Today I have an Oncologist appt.to get results of Liver scan this time so hopefully good news there again. So todays photo could be a picture of the receptionist in the clinic.. LOL. Take care everyone and I look forward to hearing from you all in your blogs. Cheers Vicki

Hi Vicki Anne What you are describing reminded me of one of the entries in the Cancer Council Victoria Arts Awards that I saw earlier in the year. It was a series of photos of a boy taken over time, with all the changes brought about by a cancer apparent; hair loss, weight loss, change in the focus in the eyes. I think what you are proposing to do is a great idea and I would be interested in how it goes for you. Could you please keep us informed along the way? Another thing. It's just a thought but maybe on some days your thoughts might not be grateful. If so, I hope that doesn't stop you writing them into your wonderful story of the next year. Cheers. H

Thanks Harker, I get your point, include even ungrateful days, because that is part of the journey as well. I dont plan on putting a photo of me everyday, just something to do with that day. Today I have several doctors appts , so I have photographed the clinic and receptionist. LOL.. Got some really good news today. The lesions/tumours on my liver have shrunk, we have regression folks. Yippeeeeeee. Who could ask for better. My chemo finishes on Tuesday 28th December and then I will be closely monitored every 2 months at this stage. Still one step at a time. :) Cheers Vicki

Great news Vicki! Definitely a grateful day. I agree with HArker though that for it to be an honest account, there will be "down "days. I think that it will help to give the whole process perspective, particularly since you are so close to fininishing one of the phases. I wish that I had done somehitng similar. How are the feet going? Samex

Hi Samex Thanks, the feet still have some numbness. The legs are weaker and abit unsteady as well. Went shopping at the local shopping plaza last week and my sister-in-law took me around in a wheelchair. Cant walk very far. I do as much walking as I can around the house to keep the muscles going. Looking forward to them improving after christmas. I know it will still take time. I want to stand and walk around at my daughters wedding in march without any aids to help me. so I will be working on that alot from now on. Sorry to ramble on. Cheers Vicki

Hi Vicki, I found that refloxolgy and acupuncture helped my feet and legs a bit. I also had a marvellous yoga teacher who helped me to build up strength gradually. It is so frustrating when the mind is willing but the feet keep tripping you up! Never be afraid to ramble here!! S

I am not going to bore everyone with every photo I take in this diary, but I have to tell you I got a terrific one today. and only day 4 LOL. My husband has been doing the grocery shopping for the last few months, prior to that you could count on one hand the amount of times he ever set foot in the supermarket. He has done a wonderful job but he really doesn't like it. I felt a little more energy today so I said I will come with you and get some extra stuff.. I got a photo of him going through the checkout with the trolley. PROOF hahahahahaha. This is a photo to be really treasured. Thanks S. I have a reflexologist in town and I was also going to try Reiki. Cheers Vicki You never know how far the ripples go when you do a good thing.

A photo diary is a wonderful idea Vicki Ann. You already have your first memory, bringing a smile – hubbie with the shopping trolley :) So many moments of the day generally go unnoticed, you will have a record of those moments to look back on. Don’t think your photos will be boring, definitely keep sharing. Reindeer xx

Hello, I don't take a photo every day, but I do keep a diary. It starts when I first went to the doctor who told me that I had cancer. From then I thought, boy am I in for a ride, so might as well have something to look back on later. I still do the diary, but now it is only for updating after I have been for my check ups and of course recording the results of my annual colonscopies, and my two yearly mammogram. I didn't record every single detail, but mainly my feelings and how my particular day was. Interesting looking back through it now. Yes, I do take some photos, they are a great idea though.

Hi Vicki, you put a huge smile on my face when talking about your Hubbie, as I can understand the great sacrifice he made to push that trolley..haha as I too do the same as i often have to go with the wife to make sure i get what i need(soft moist diet food,no teeth),LOL,and i get no pleasure in having my heels bruised by out of control trolleys been driven like MAC trucks on a freeway. Thankyou for the smile. TC Dave

Hi Vicki, Must say, watch out that hubby doesn't get too used to the shopping, mine has and as we live half and hour away from shops, we both go, and then its RACE around the supermarket - no time for reading things or much choosing - and then off home! Am really looking forward to our shifting (late January & late February settlements) closer to a larger town (Castlemaine) so that I can go and do some "wandering" down a street and just browse as much as I want to as slowly as I want to. Isn't it great, though, that your hubby has been able to take on the shopping and (I am sure) lots of other things that you have always done, and made your "journey" a little easier. I know that my partner enjoys (wouldn't admit it) looking after me if there are any "hiccups" post cancer and it is really great to be able to lean on him a little now and then without losing my independence. Glad to hear about your results, must be a huge relief, and the photo diary - what a great idea. I must say that when I went through my "trial by cancer" I was just concentrating on going through it, not looking at anything that might be of benefit mentally. Keep up the good work, lol, craftyone
