Hi. I've just joined this forum in the hope to gain some insights about how to recover from cancer and help my body heal from the effects of chemotherapy. I'm 29 years old and was diagnosed with Stage 2 ovarian cancer last year. I've had two operations since and my 6th (and final!) chemo will be this week. I'm very excited yet also a little nervous about having less specialist care and having to be more personally responsible and accountable for this next part of my journey. I understand it's normal. However, is there any thing I can do to make this transition less nerve racking?

Hi Sandra Well done on getting this far!! I was sooo excited to be finishing my treatment etc that i didnt think about suddenly not having to do trips to the hospital every 10 days etc so i found once all the nausea and tiredness settled down i didnt know what to do with myself! I ended up going to my GP as i felt a bit lost and confused and he said its completely normal i think he called it a transition period, it probably took a good six months for me to find my feet and realise what my "new life" was going to be like. I wish you all the very best you will find a way within yourself to enjoy the new you without the hospital every five seconds, let your body rest and recover from all its been through. All the best Stacey

Hi Stacey, Thanks very much for your perspective. I'm relieved my chemo has finished and I'm looking forward to getting back to a new normal life (whatever that entails!). I'm glad to know that it's ok to let this next stage take a while and to allow myself time to find my feet again. Regards, Sandra
