We have just arrived home from a review with our surgical team in Melbourne. Nigel had his scan on Monday which has shown a 15% increase in the tumour since Feb 13. This tumour has not stopped growing since first diagnosed in August 12. Radiation and chemo has only slowed the growth down. As Nigel has two blood clots in each lungs the surgical team deem him to be a high risk patient recovery from surgery will be slow. Not sure if Nigel could handle a third surgery and with his other disease(Addisons) his immune system is shot. We have decided to deal with our oncologist doctor only going forward. Though he is hesitant to give Nigel anymore treatment due to his weakness. I have noticed over the last few weeks that he is getting weaker and sleeping more. The one good thing for Nigel is that he has not lost his sense of humour and we can still hold a good conversation. His short term memory is shot, at times he cannot process what he sees well - all in all we are travelling okay and have nothing to complain about. Life is going to get harder but we will make the most of what we have left - we have decided not to dwell on it and enjoy family, friends and a few rides on his motorbike. Life is too short in essence....
