My name is Nigel Waring, I was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma 3B in the right lung on the 12th January 2010. I started with chemo but could not handle it so after just three months I went onto Tarceva, had a good run of 31 months from that then changed to Alimta which I'm still on and have found it to be very stable. I've survived for almost five years by following the instructions of my Oncologist and the advice given in all the booklets and leaflets. I am a teetotaller and a vegetarian, I try to avoid added sugar, fats and high GI food, most of what we eat is fresh fruit and steamed vegetables along with some Sanitarium products for protein. I try to live as normal a life as possible, still planning for the future, we still travel as much as ever, this year we have been to Japan, South Korea and Siberia, in a few weeks we will have an escorted tour of the gardens in Tasmania. We do have plans for next year but we will see how the Ebola goes before we book anything. I've recently taken out an Australian Amateur Radio licence with the call sign VK2WQP, have some equipment but still working on setting up an aerial. I'm a member of the Support Group at Jacaranda Lodge in the San Hospital Grounds.
