I have numerous cancers. Over 20 years I have had many BCCs and SCCs cut out.
I have had both sides of my bottom lip operated on in recent years. In March this year I had major surgery to remove my bottom lip, a large part of my jawbone and 6 front bottom teeth. My lip/chin was reconstructed from my left forearm.
Last year...2023...I had SCCs and a melanoma removed from my scalp leading to 2 x 20 days radiation in May and October.
I am plugging on and look like facing another 20 days radiation for a poorly differentiated SCC on my forehead.
So....what I seek is advice from people regarding strategies for eating. I have all teeth bar 6 at front bottom, I can chew but when doing so cannot close my mouth as there is not enough flesh. Food falls out unless I cover my mouth. I have been told too much mandible has been taken to have implants and gap is too wide for denture.
Has anybody had the same sort of issues...and any strategies to manage would be great.
Thanks heaps
Greg
