Hi BJS,
I'm sorry that you, your husband and family are on this rollercoaster that none of us would choose to ride. Cancer is an insidious disease, once it is in your loved one's body, then it is in the life of all who love them.
I haven't been on this site for a long long time. However tonight, I felt the 'urge' to sign in and see what's happening........I have experience as the carer for a husband who has oesophageal cancer.
You may wish to read some of my blogs, I am surprised to see that I am still running 2nd only to the great wise Sailor, even after not visiting the site for so long!
I can't offer any recommendation for a good Oncologist at Peter Mac's as I live in WA. However, I thought you might like to PM me with any questions/venting etc etc.........just cos I've been there.
I wish for you strength and courage,
kind regards,
Mrs Elton
Hi Mrs Elton, thanks for your reply, I'm very interested in talking to you as your husband had the same kind of cancer that my husband has. At the moment I'm struggling to figure out how to send a personal message, I've managed to send a couple before but I can't seem to find a way to send you an email. Can you explain how to get a PM to you.
Regards,
BJS
Hi BJS,
To send a PM, go to the box "my stuff" on the top right of the screen, click on 'messages'.
Select, 'write new message', type in Mrs and a drop down option will come up and you just click on Mrs Elton, then type your message.
Whenever I log in, it will show that I have 1 new message, but it also comes up on my email inbox on my computer.
Good luck!, hope that's clear enough.
Mrs Elton
Hello there BJS,
I too would suggest all specialists at Peter Mac are wonderful.
if you log in to www.petermac.org/HeadNeckServiceReferrals you can look at the names and possibly google them. I did this when I was referred to the Austin and on the recommendation of another oncologist from the Royal Melbourne was then happy to have treatment at the Austin as the Royal Melbourne did not provide radiation treatment over there. Sometimes your gp may provide a name which in turn could lead to another. I normally go on recommendation then do my own homework.
I am certain though that all professionals are in this industry because they care enough to be in it.
Good luck with your search and hoping all will be as best as can be for you.
Regards
