Last week I was diagnosed with Vulva cancer. Apparently it is rare and mostly women over 70 get it. I am 51. I haven't seen the specialist yet. They say it is slow progressing and not to worry. Well I am. Although I have read up on it I don't know what stage mine is or what to expect. The whole thing is freaking me out just a tad!
Jenni,
Have you tried calling the helpline and asking for cancer connect? I am a volunteer for that, and with this patient is matched up with a trained volunteer that has experienced matters that could be bothering you. No face to face, just a friendly voice over the phone that can understand what you are feeling.
Try giving them a call 131120 and ask to be transferred to Cancer Connect.
I will contact them tomorrow and ask if they have anyone on file that could possibly help you. What state are you in?
Jenni,
I sent you a message last night. I have confirmed with Cancer Connect that they have trained volunteers for Cancer of the Vulva. Please give them a call and they can take some details from you and match you up with one of those ladies. With Cancer Connect the only contact you have with each other is when the volunteer contacts you by phone. I am a volunteer with this group for my cancer and find that the ladies that have been referred to me are so pleased to talk to someone that can relate and understand to what you are experiencing. You arrange with the volunteer the best suitable day/or time is best for contact.
The phone number is 13 11 20, option 3 and then ask to be transferred to Cancer Connect.
Good luck.
