Brain/skin cancer

My husband has been through 5yrs of hell, this was his 3rd cancer surgery & recovery, the last, was in the nerve stem cell to his brain, he also had a massive tumour on his face. This operation was over 13hrs long & honestly, I didn’t think he would make it, but he did. He had the stem removed, also the tumour on his face, which was replaced by skin & muscle from his leg, which was quite extensive. He’s a trooper my husband & a beautiful man, I am 59 & have loved him since I was 17. It’s so tiring & my head is such a mess. I think realistically, he has coped better than me. I am in Bali at the moment for a week, he went to his mums partners home for week, we both thought after such a long 5mths, we needed space, not from each other, but just to reboot.. he has also lost his entire family in the last 5yrs, his 3 brothers & his mum & dad. I have been to Bali many times, we got married here. Why can’t I shut down & relax this time..? How can I..  ? He’s such a darling & I tell him it’s a great trip, it’s not, I miss him & I am so scared I will lose him in the end.. is this normal to feel this way.. I just want to go home. Thanks for listening.. Re: Brain/skin cancer

Hello Sank,

Thank you for joining the community and for sharing your pain.

Certainly your husband is a trooper, and he is lucky to have you by his side, providing much needed love and support .

All these emotions and feelings that you are currently experiencing are normal, cancer takes everyone in this unwanted rollercoaster of emotions. No one is ever prepared to let a loved one go no matter how old they might be.

Sometimes you will feel jus just can't take anymore, just hang on in there one day at a time.

if you comeback to Australia and would like to have some emotional support please call our Information and Support Team on 131120 Mon to Fri, between 9 to 5.

Warm regards

Susana
