Dad has Liver Cancer

Hi everyone, I've just joined this community in hopes that I can get some support and hopefully support others.

I found out a few days ago that my Dad has Liver Cancer. It can't be operated on. The Dr has told him he has 2 to 5 years. I don't have much more information now but I'll be seeing our family GP in two weeks to get that sorted.

I find most of the time I feel like it's not really happening, but then it hits me (usually after I go to bed) then at those times I feel very alone and scared.

I can't talk to anyone because my Dad only wants family to know at this stage. I'm trying to be strong for him and my family but sometimes I wish someone would be strong for me

Re: Dad has Liver Cancer

Hello Jen7W,

Thanks for joining our online community and for reaching out for some support.

I am very sorry about your dad's diagnosis, it is understandable to feel lonely and scared.

Getting your feelings out in the open it is a good start, this is a safe space for all to come together to share  stories and individual journeys, also to provide and receive support to one and other.

If you are an Australian resident, and would like to know how Cancer Council could help you during this difficult time, please call our information and support line on 131120, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Warm regards

Susana
