HI; new to forums; however its good to find a Australian forum for cancer, I'am 66 years old good health, except for the fact that 1 month ago I was diagnosed with Merkel Cell Carcinoma after beeing on holiday for 1 month in the tropics of northern Australia, no sign of tumour on the arm before I left, (Darwin & Northern WA) on arriving home 1 month later my wife said, get to the doctors let him have a look at this strange looking lump on my forearm. He had a look shrugged his shoulders and said it was a cyst and would cut it out if I wanted it taken out, after a bit of thinking about, I'm a woos when it comes to blood I decided OK take it out so we made a appiontment next week on arrival that week he was very busy so made it the following week(its only a Cyst} so we thought what a mistake that was. A few days leter I got dreaded phone call. THE DOCTOR WANTS TO SEE YOU NOW,On arriving at the docs he had already made an appointment ta the Alfred Cancer centre Melbourne for me, after another bigger operation 4cms either side of first Opp.very small compered to some ive seen. fortunatly i got it out very early in the piece now Rad. Therapy for next 5 or 6 weeks every day.
I really cant stress enough that if you have something on your body that your not sure of CYST OR ODD LOOKING PIMPLE PURPLE IN COLOUR SEE YOUR DOCTOR, and have him cut it out it could save your life.
