Are you an Australian resident, have recently completed your cancer treatment and are aged between 25 and 40 years of age?
The early survivorship period isn’t always easy. We get it! But often many others don’t. You may be contemplating new relationships, juggling a family, returning to work or starting a new job. Or you might be worried about whether you can have your own family, as well as many other things.
Cancer Council NSW will soon be running its next peer support program called Re-claim Life. It brings together people recovering from their cancer experience who are in the 25 to 40 age range to discuss the issues they face and learn ways to better cope with the things post-cancer life throws at them.
We’re currently looking for people to join the groups which are starting from April 2024.
Groups will be conducted via videoconferencing and are facilitated by two professional counsellors. Participants are asked to attend six weekly sessions, plus a booster session. Participants discuss the issues they face, the facilitators help them build resilience, and formulate strategies and coping skills.
If this sounds like you, please contact Cancer Council NSW on 13 11 20.
Are you still running the program? I would love to know what the consensus was on your outcomes of the meetings. I myself am 31, 5 years post testicular cancer and am keen to connect people going through cancer and beyond.
Cheers,
Nick
