stage 3C colon cancer

My husband recently got diagnosed with stage 3C colon cancer. His surgery went really well and he has recovered so well. But now we have to do chemo. Just anxious about the whole situation. His cancer type is grade 2 and the mucinous type so worried about the overall outcome. Just very very stressed.

 Hi @Indrani

Welcome to the cancer council community (also known as the very very stressed club).

I'm sorry to hear about your husband.

I'm glad to hear that he is recovering well.

Does he have further treatment planned?

Re: stage 3C colon cancer

Thank you for your response. Yes, he will need chemo. The surgeon said he has done his best to remove everything compromised and his pathology report indicated clear margins which is great! But we are yet to find out about his chemotherapy schedule. Pretty sure it will be for 6 months but yes not sure what to expect. His surgery was on the 7th Nov.

Re: stage 3C colon cancer

That's great news.

They usually give you a while after the surgery to recover before starting the chemotherapy, and then it might be 12 rounds (might be a bit different, depending on treatment) of chemotherapy.

How are you?

Re: stage 3C colon cancer

I'm good thanks.  I was cured of my colon cancer a number of years ago.  I have scans every year, but they are always emotionally stressful.  But prevention is better than cure.

It's that time of year again for me though. It doesn't get any easier, but I just need to toughen up and do the scans.

The appointment will come around before you know it.

Try to find something else to occupy your mind so you don't spend too much time thinking about it. (yes I know, easier said than done)
