Dealing with symptoms of advanced cancer

A diagnosis of advanced cancer can bring many physical challenges. Cancer Council NSW’s podcast series The Thing About Advanced Cancer focuses on three common symptoms of advanced cancer – breathlessness, delirium and pain.

• “Managing Breathlessness when Cancer is Advanced”. Breathlessness can be very distressing, both for the person experiencing it and those around them. This episode discusses the causes and ways it can be managed.
• “Avoiding Delirium when Cancer is Advanced”. This episode explores what delirium is, how to recognise the signs and how it might be avoided.
• “Managing Pain when Cancer is Advanced”. Many people are fearful that having advanced cancer means they will be in pain. In this episode, palliative medicine physician Dr Melanie Lovell discusses the many options for managing pain.
