My mum potentially has cancer and cannot keep food down. Are there any effective ant nausea medicine

My mum is 83 years young.

She has been in hospital for over a month. And during that month had not eating AT ALL. Because she cannot keep food or drink down without vomiting it back .

The doctor *suspect* that she has cancer due to 3 tumour markers being raised, but have not confirmed it.

But basically they are just leaving her to starve to death.

Even though she does not have a definite cancer diagnosis!

She has large ascites (fluid in her abdomen), her heart is bad and her kidneys are failing.

She is on IV fluid but the cannula keeps tissuing as her vascular system is now so bad due to extreme dehydration.

The doctors are pissing me off because on one hand they are claiming the ascites is not the cause of her bit being able to keep food down, but in the other hand they have tried 3 anti nausea medicine and bone have been effective.

So i personally believe there's a high likelihood that the ascites fluid (8 liters in her abdomen!) is the cause.

But this leads to problem B. To remove that fluid she would need to have a picc line inserted in her NECK and threaded to get heart. A high risk and scary procedure.

Which my dad and sister don't want her to do. And I don't know if should or should.

So, God willing, I need to find away asap that she can keep some good and drink down.

Because she is very malnourished and will die of malnutrition - not of cancer - which the doctors admit.

Please tell me any suggestions 😭

So sorry for your mum, and for you too.   During chemo I suffered a lot of nausea and the medication I found most effective was one where you placed the small pill under your tongue and it dissolved quickly. Can’t remember its name though, but it did work well. Perhaps your mum could benefit from it since she can’t keep pills down.  Good luck and good wishes.🙁
