You know what Cancer is shitty and will make you sad and question EVERYTHING. I realised early on that I needed to focus on the here and now, or my mind got out of control. Even now that my hubby is gone I have to keep my mind on what is immediate I have three daughters who help keep me going.
My mum also has late stage bowel cancer so it seems that Cancer has been my world for a long time.

Oh there are so many of these, most are now pushed to the back of my mind. One memorable one was when my husband was told that he couldn't drive any more, he had GBM, people would say gee you're lucky you get to be chauffered everywhere now! So him losing his independence having to sell his motorbike is better? grrr
Many of the inappropriate comments came at his final stage and after his passing, mostly from his own mother one of my favs directed at me was you are young with your whole life ahead of you what was she inferring that I was going to go out and hook up with someone else? All I can think is yep a whole long life ahead of me without my soulmate, best friend etc

Thanks everyone, my time at the moment is taken with dealing with institues, banks, RMS sorting out super etc. I know this will all resolve then I will be left with my empty heart and soooo much time.
I am thankful for our girls they really are the only reason I can get up and face each day.

Absolutely call CanTeen 02 9007 0190, they have been fantastic with my girls. Counselling, rec days and being with others that just 'get it'. Never too late to call them in.
We are all getting by, 5 weeks after their dad died. School can be hard, day by day I tell my girls. They have almost done 2 whole weeks at school, they know how proud of them Iam.

Do those videos of the kids, things can change at lightening speed. Pete was going to do letters for our girls, never did happen.
I have spoken with my girls they are older then your kids so they understand that things just happened too quickly for him to do it, they have their own fond memories.

Firstly sorry you guys have been dealt this hand.
Over the last 23months I have learnt alot about this disease. Mostly though everyones needs experiences are so very different. Get informed, ask questions with your oncologist, coordinator (if your lucky enough to have one) read up lots but keep in mind everyone is different.
My husband held such a positive attitude which helped overcome alot of our anxieties.
GBM won on 6/9/13
His favourite saying was Never Give In, Never Surrender he lived true to his words.

Has been a while since I have been on this site, Pete lost his battle with GBM 6/9/13. Things started to change when he got lost going to work on the 19/8/13, quickly we saw changes to the point on the following Monday 26/8/13 I called for him to be taken for assesment so I could get our house prepared for the new Pete.
As he got assessed our wonderful coordinator told me that he was more then likely not coming home so onto the palliative hospital waiting list he went. Pete never got out of bed again.
He never did make it to the palliative hospital as no beds were available. We had such great staff at the hospital that Iam glad we stayed there, I slept on a mattress each night in the same room.
I was with him as he let out his final breath on the Friday afternoon 6/9/13.
