My husband's journey started late October 2025 with constant coughing. My husband is not one to go to see his Dr, so it took a couple times to actually talk him to go. Just normal testing, bloods, xray... Getting ready to go to work the next day, to receive a call from his GP, " Shane can't drive out today. He is an Interstate Truck Driver from Perth to Brisbane, weekly. He has a mass on his left lung that needs to have further checks. Ok, so a week off work, went to the hospital. Very confusing while we were there, no one knowing what's happening, but eventually we saw a Dr. 5 litres of brown mucky fluid from around his lungs. Waited 2 weeks for the results, still not able to go back to work., still not sure what was happening. More tests, then 17th November 2025, we got a call to say he has Stage 4 lung cancer. Without treatment, my husband may only live a further 4 months. More tests done. H is irregular , struggling with breathing. Coughing up phlegm. Tired, no energy. Just stays home, awake most of the night, because of being a truck driver, his sleeping pattern distorted. He sees the Oncologist on the 3rd February, but he doesn't think he needs to, but I need clarity about what is actually happening. It breaks my heart thinking about everything.
