Good morning, I’m just looking for some advice while I wait for my results for cancer after ovarian surgery. My mother passed away from breast cancer, aggressively diagnosing her as terminal in three months but miraculously surviving three years. I am tested positive for the gene. I’m really sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this. I couldn’t locate a forum for waiting for results and I’m just terrified seeking some comfort. If this isn’t the right place please kindly let me know where I should be and I’ll move my post. I am 26 years old. Started having menstrual issues at 18. A few scans done and a few blood tests. PCOS diagnosis which was then retracted by a second opinion. Minimal issues for five years other than irregular cycles, fatigue, shortness of breath but no one could work out what was wrong. To be honest because of my age no doctor even looked into it. Then this week came and sudden chaos is now here. Wednesday afternoon I was working out and couldn’t make it through my 30 minute session. I was fatigued dizzy and exhausted. I stopped and left the gym. I went out to a restaurant with my partner. I couldn’t make it to the car, 100m, I just couldn’t walk there. I didn’t recognise it as pain but I was exhausted beyond belief. I fell asleep in the car and then had no symptoms from 8pm-midnight. I woke up in excruciating lower abdomen pain. The ambulance came and took me to the hospital where they did an ultrasound I stayed at the hospital through Thursday. Hemorrhagic cyst 3-4cm and right ovary swelled to 32CC with free fluid. They wanted my body to correct it on its own. Sent me home with pain management. The following day being the Friday, the pain relief simply wasn’t working. If I stood for more than 3 minutes I’d collapse, again I was in pain but there was something else, I was suffering with shortness of breath and extremely tired. I went back to emergency and I sat in short stay for 8hours. The first Doctor on shift was the same one from the Wednesday evening/ Thursday morning trip and they said maybe I just need stronger pain relief for one more day and they’d send me home. Second Doctor (shift change) on first sight felt my stomach and called an ambulance to rush me to a different hospital that has a specialist gynaecological ward. The surgeon then said I needed to go to emergency theatre. They peeled (removed) a 6cm cyst (ulstrasound wasn’t accurate?) and drained internal bleeding, so it had ruptured. They then sent it off to the lab for biopsy. I’m still inpatient, it’s now Sunday. My blood pressure is consistently 85/40ish and climbs up to around 92/59 every so often. I have circulated assistance to my legs. I have a catheter. I’m not allowed out of bed. My lower stomach feels a lot better though. I’m wondering why they sent away my cyst for testing. A specialist team is coming to visit me this afternoon. They said they’re bringing some photos with information and asked for my partner to be here. Can anyone please give any advice on what are some good questions to ask them? Has anyone else had something similar to this? Any support would be great. Thank you, Gloria
