Well, I completed my first full day of work today and it was ok, very proud of me...... My insurance is cutting out soon so need to be back at full time work......I am so blessed.....with that said, Im very excited to say that we are selling our home and have purchased rural land in Morayfield QLD and are building again....and we are better off mortgage wise too....and I get my chooks and vege patch....mind you the chooks wont last too long with our german shepherds who love their chicken necks for dinner. So IF work taps me on the shoulder, dodged the first round of redundancies however there are 2 more to came.....I think I'll become the coffee and cake girl....that way they will never get rid of me.....people are so lazy when it comes to buying coffee's. Congratulations Jules, a full day at work is an achievement to be proud of. I hope it didn't make you too tired. Congratulations also on the new house! It sounds like it will be really nice. The bush is so friendly and comforting. I have a unit in the suburbs but it backs onto a small bushland so it has a really pretty tree-filled view.

When you build your new house will you have to shift work as well? I love chooks because we had them when I was a kid. When I fed them I tasted their wheat and their mash. Both tasted ok to me. Maybe I was a strange kid. It's good that there are exciting things ahead for you. Congratulations.

Hi Silly, i have been quiet on here and talking with you....no eating the chooks food makes a lot of sense, you only want to feed the chooks food that you would eat cause we eat their eggs.....You must give me the recipe, I have never had chooks and a novice at it, I would so like to hear your wisdom and knowledge on chooks my dear. I will still be working at Spring Hill, City but am being transferred to Carseldine in the decentralisation program. So where I live at Cashmere and travel to city will be same distance from Morayfield to Carseldine...... Anyway enough about me, me, me...how are you doing lovely? Hope you are well and that you are enjoying your meals more and how is life in general. Jules x

Congratulations on getting through your first full day of work. Isn't it nice to be able to use your brain like you used to and feel like you are making a contribution again. I know my head was spinning after my first day back at work. I had been off work for 6 months and it took a week or two to get the old grey matter working up to speed again. It sounds like your move to the rural scene may be just what you need too. I grew up on a small farm that went a little crazy. We had cows, pigs, horses, goats, chooks, ducks, cats, a dog.....and a donkey..lol. They kept us busy looking after them all, but it was fun for a kid. I have since grown up and moved to the city. About the closest I get to rural life now is when I make pickles, jams and chutney for Christmas presents. Oh, by the way. If you want your eggs to be a deep rich golden colour, feed your chooks some maize. Keep up the good work recovery wise, and as you have already seemed to have worked out, being made redundant enables you to open doors and explore options you may never have considered before. Make the most of it!! Good luck.

Jules,I am 61 years old now so it's a long time since my childhood .I think they had dry what once a day and a bran and not sure if there was something else mixed in water once a day. Since the there may be new ideas. When my kids were young we lived on acreage for one year only and we had 6 chooks who were eaten by the neighbour's part dingo dog ,one by one. My then husband did the feeding as I was busy with kids and work. Rowan may have the best ideas. Also when you buy the chooks the seller can advise. It's good that house and work will fit in.

Hi Jules, I have a cat-proof fence to keep my cat in the yard as she is not allowed in the bushland behind. I get some possums walking around the top of the fence but none have come into the yard so far, which is lucky as I don't think they'd be able to get out once they got in. Sometimes I hear kookaburras which is nice. I've never had chooks although my family did long ago - before I was born. I like the idea of chooks. Hope you had a good nap. This year I have been going to work all day every day. Before that I hadn't worked a full week for 15 months. I am getting used it and it is quite good having a proper routine.

Hi Jules, Congrats - on your first day back at work! Have you gone back part time or full time? Don't overdo things, though. Great news about the new house & land! Sam

Thank you Jules. I thought the pic was pretty special when I found it too. It just seemed so appropriate as an Avitar for a site like this. It goes towards the strength we have to find within ourselves to keep going about our day to day lives whilst dealing with our particular forms of cancer.
