I was reading Wazza's last blog I posted for him on the 2nd of August, 2009. I thought, I should finish his journey for all of you who haven't read my Blog. "Merkel" (Wazza's wife). Wazza passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday 22nd August, 2009, at 10:55am. Aged 61yrs. RIP.

Hi Merkel, It's so great to hear from you. Hopefully you and the family are managing okay, Christmas must have been really difficult for you all. Wazza was a very positive man and his great love for you was evident to all of us who knew him. Even though we have never met sometimes it feels like we have. I was saddened with the news of his passing. Not sure if you remember me talking to you about my beautiful friend Alli, sadly she did pass away not long ago and this was devestating as we were very close but Im glad she is now hopefully at peace. Hope you are well and taking care of yourself (Im sure that Wazza would have wanted that). Take care Vanessa

Hi Vanessa, I was trying to find you on the site about two days ago, under Daffodil to see how you were travelling. I couldn't find you. Thank you for contacting me again, and for being so supportive, while having your own journey to worry about. How are you travelling at the moment. I hope it's all going well for you. I'm very sorry to hear about Alli. It's always hard losing someone so close. She's in a much better place now. Take care, Merkel

Hey Merkel, Yep, I thought I would go with my real name and changed it about 6 months ago. I was thinking about you but I knew that you had my real name so just thought you would put 2 and 2 together and contact me when you were ready. It was awful to lose Alli, she was an inspiration to so many and is so sadly missed. We went through all our treatments together and I loved her like the sister I never had, so when she passed away it felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. She leaves behind an adoring husband and beautiful family. I will post some links here for other to read a bit about her short but amazing life. http://www.smh.com.au/national/obituaries/a-life-of-strength-and-optimism-amid-illness-20091127-jwv6.html http://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/marie-claire/news-events/events-diary/article/-/6183519/garnier-take-care-awards-celebrating-women-who-take-care/ I will put my profile pic up, the picture is of Allison and I taken around 3 weeks before she passed away. I hope you and your family are doing well. Im still here if you need a chat. Take care Vanessa

Wow Vanessa . Your friend was something special. One of the things that haunts me about cancer is that it is so indiscriminate in who and how it attacks. I lost 2 very good friends as well (1 before I was diagnosed and one who endured his treatment with me). Sometimes this is what makes me angriest rather than my own situation - which is pretty good at the moment. Merkel, I only read your blogs when I was new to this site but I remember being deeply touched by your honest description of Wazza's last few hours. I hope that you and your family are doing Ok. Hi Samex, You are so right, cancer does not descriminate. The bond that we all share especially when we go through treatments together is something I can not describe. I know it sounds a little strange to say but I am so glad I had cancer...if I didnt I would never have had the opportunity to share a bond with such a beautiful person who has given so much to my life. She was a blessing that I will be forever thankful for. Yes I remember Merkels blog and Wazza went in peace. I dont know how Merkel has managed to get through the last 6 months, she is one strong lady and her and Wazzas love story is really lovely, soul mates. It so hard to think about when we are all going through our own illness, really confronting, but also after being able to spend time with Alli during her last few weeks, Im not scared anymore, I want to live a long life & cancer sucks but she taught me so much about living in the moment and enjoying life. Take care
