My daughter has cancer and I can’t relate to my friends

I’m new to this site and have really connected with some of the posts.  My 35 year old daughter has breast cancer and when I told my friends they were of course nice and supportive.  The problem is her cancer has changed me.  I now have a tough time joining in chit chat.  It seems self absorbed and trivial.  I find I can’t stand listening to their preferred topics of clothing, restaurants, house redecorating, planned trips, newest acquisitions and the like.  I try to join in but not successfully.  Everyone asks me about my daughter which is fine and I appreciate that but I end up depressed and leave early.  Any thoughts out there?  Thanks
