Primary Liver Cancer/varices

Hi everyone,

my dads has just been diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer, it has spread to the lymph nodes around his liver and to his lungs. His blood markers are 1200.
He only has 3 options to give him a better quality of life which will be decided for him at a specialist meeting this Wednesday. However he recently had a procedure called “banding of the varices“ done yesterday which seems very serious if he were to experience any bleeding from the varices itself (not the actual procedure) the doctor did say one of them looked very serious.

has anybody experienced this with liver cancer?

HI RosaN

Welcome to the forum.  I'm sorry to hear about your dad.  If you live in Australia, you can call Cancer Counci's telephone support line - 13 11 20. This telephone line is open Monday to Friday from 9-5, its manned by Allied Health worker who all have a lot of knowledge around different cancers and the treatments.  They may be able to answer your question, or point you in the right direction.

If you're not in Australia, ask the doctor who is treating your father for information, You can also ask your  them, to recommend a good reliable place to go for information, to help with any clinical questions you have in the future.

It's always worth going back to the team who provided the treatment and ask them to answer your question.

I hope you get the information you need.
