I just got diagnosed with a melanoma

I just found out yesterday.

Im only 43  and im a single mum with a little boy.

I have an appointment on monday with a plastic surgeon to find out if its spread to my lymph nodes.

I know  it has tho. I can feel it it through my body.

I am devastated and dont know what to do.

I dont think i have much time left.

I had so many plans...

Hello Frankyau,

Thank you for reaching out to the online forum and for sharing so openly.

I am sorry you are going through this. Getting this kind of news especially at 43, and as a single mum to a 9-year-old is completely overwhelming.

Many people in this group have sat exactly where you are convinced it had spread, convinced they didn’t have long to live. The appointment on Monday is there to give you clear information and until you have that, there is still a lot of unknown, and a lot of possibility… there is hope, even if you can’t feel it right now.

Please know that you do not have to navigate those experiences alone. You can call the Cancer Council on 13 11 20 and speak to one of our health professionals to talk about the range of services available to support you.

Take Care and warm regards, Adriana

Hi frankyou,

I’m hoping you are in a better position now with your melanoma journey

I am thinking of you and hoping you have been offered some support and perhaps referred to a clinical trial if that is an opportunity available to you.

kind regards
