Pancreatic cancer and pain.

Pancreatic cancer and pain.

  • About 6 weeks ago I was diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer and was told my timeline was in months. I had a stent put in between my pancreas and bile duct so that my body could clear the toxic build up.
  • I've chosen no intervention given that I'm 81. While I felt very sick before the stent I've gradually improved and apart from severe lack of energy I'm doing ok and I'm very grateful.
  • Pancreatic cancer is apparently a painful cancer but to date I'm not in pain but can't help feeling apprehensive about what is to come. It's like waiting for the next shoe to drop.  I was wondering how others have dealt with this cancer and does everyone experience pain?
  • Meanwhile I'm living every day as it comes but I welcome any insight which will help me prepare with what's ahead as my timeline creeps rapidly along.
  • Many thanks and best wishes to everyone in their daily dealings with living with cancer.

Re: Pancreatic cancer and pain.

Thank you Felicity,  I have done that and everyone has been very helpful.

I reached out through this forum because 10 years ago I had open heart surgery and I found this type of forum, where other patients shared their stories, to be very helpful. Cheers.

Re: Pancreatic cancer and pain.

Thank you for replying. It's the unknown that I'm trying to get a handle on. At present I'm not experiencing pain and maybe I won't. As you say, everyone's body reacts differently.

I'm so grateful to be pain free at this stage and am wondering if there are others that have escaped the pain.

I'm living every day as best I can and with my dear friends and family, certainly much to be thankful for. Cheers JK
