Vaginal cancer radical pelvic surgery

Hi I am new to this forum I was diagnosed with vaginal cancer July last year had chemo and radiation to no avail. Now I have to consider pelvic exenteration just wondered if anyone has been through this major surgery and can help. Thanks.

Hi Lindy65,

I can hear the worry and weight of the enormous decision you are facing. I can see also you have asked the community in a different forum so I'm just adding a link to that post here to help your question reach more people.

I'm sure that hearing from someone who may have experienced this surgery or perhaps knows of someone who has undergone this surgery would be reassuring. Understanding how they coped before, during and after the surgery would help you to process your decision and possibly provide some clarity in it all for you. I am hopeful someone in the community might share how they have coped with this type of surgery.

You may also wish to consider counselling support to help you work through your decision or for preoperative support should that be the decision you choose. Your GP or health professional will be able to discuss options with you or you can reach our team of health professionals on 13 11 20 and they will be able to walk you through the process of finding counselling support.
