Hi again Maria, thanks for sharing your experience. its is nice that you are able to be at home, in a nice relaxed environment and be able to connect with your children at this time. Its funny, when I was diagnosed, i was horrified at the thought of how much of our lives are taken up with work and I really did not see the point in it all. but 7 years on, i am busy again, yet a great positive aspect of me having had cancer, is that this illness reminds me to keep balance and relax as well. As for suggestions, like Raul said, you just being here and participating on the various segments of this site will definitely help others. Another thing that comes to mind when referring to 'how I can help others' is whether you might be interested in doing an interview for the 'In Focus' series that the Cancer Council are about to run, specifically to help inform and help other YACs. Hi Maria, likewise it is nice to be connected with you through this site :) It is great to hear you are feeling more on top of life, enough to begin to reach out to others. It took me a couple of years before I could begin to do this with some sort of confidence, so well done! Your questions are not personal at all... Yes, I work full time in retail ATM, however this will be finishing in one months time for maternity leave. I will then be moving in Health Promotion work, as this is what I have a degree in. I live in Byron Bay, but am just about to move to Murwillumbah, which is about 20 minutes drive south of the Goldcoast. A YAC can also encompass your friends, family, carer, or it may even be a young person who is caring for an older adult who has cancer. Hi Raul, Just continuing on from re the blog stuff... I looked up the meaning for the word 'blog' this morning at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog "A blog (a contraction of the term weblog) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Hi Raul, Its great that you think we can add some more creativey stuff and outlets for YACs. You tube sounds fine for the videos :) Maybe we could have a section on the YACs homepage that says 'Young Adult latest photos' and this could be a good place where any YAC can upload and share with the public images of themselves, or creative photos they might have taken, scanned art work etc etc. Planet Cancer.org have a pretty snazzy photo setup. They have a photo link on the main menu bar which opens into sections like 'All photos' 'My photos' 'All albumns etc'. Music i was thinking could be a more personal touch to be added to ones own profile... through a playlist application. Similar to what i have going on in my Planet Cancer homepage I hope some other YACs might have some better ideas on how these creative elements could look and work for us here :) ... View more
