As one who has been through this cancer battle once before, I feel for your struggle and wondering if things will ever be the same, or if you can or will live through this. Up until now, I was 14 1/2 years free of stage 2 Breast Cancer. Back in February, I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer recurrence, and am doing very well treatment wise. Your main objective to getting through cancer the first time around, is having a strong support system, be it family, friends, or your church family, finding ways to keep your mind off of your diagnosis, such as physical fitness (walking, riding a bicycle, swimming, muscle exercises to keep your body in shape), reading, listening to upbeat music, watching comedy movies, and just generally trying to keep up a positive mental attitude. All of the above recommendations that I have made, were things that had pulled me though my initial cancer diagnosis to begin with, and regaining contact with old friends helped a great deal. As I am heading into this next phase of my life with a stage 4 metastatic recurrence, I am learning to be more of service to others, be a bit more compassionate to others, and also learning that I can count on others to give me strength and guidance, when I feel as though I have none. Having a pet to care for is also a very good stress reliever. They show unconditional love and joy, and are there for you when no one else is. You are in my prayers as you battle this demon.
