Over the past month or so you people have helped me care for my wife. Unfortunately she passed away on Tuesday 28th September @ 9.30am after a very short 7 month's battling multiple tumours. Hi Irdano, my wife is in palliative care and the oncologist has done all he can unfortunately the cancer is to agressive to treat. I actually spoke to a nurse yesterday who said that a person could last weeks with out food as lond as they drink. My wife is getting weaker by the day. thnaks for your input ... View more

Hi chris, you kno you & i are in a similar position because my wife who is only 47 was diagnosed in February this year & now she is in a continueing care facility in the same condition as your dad. My wife also asks everyday when you can come home unfortunately because i have a 16yr old son & after a lot of thought i came to the conclusion that it is not right for our son to see his mother disappearing before his eyes. The doctors have also told me that my wife would be better looked after in a hospital due to the tumours she has on her brain which on bringing on some extreme seizures. Your dad is very lucky to have the staff at gosford looking after him the nurses there are fantastic. My wife was in M2 3 times and everytime made me feel so good about leaving her in there care. Chris i have been visiting my wife everyday for the last 8 weeks & she loves the visit & thats all you have to do. I also agree with the previous comment that you have to look after yourself I know its hard but that is what your dad would want. We all have to make some hard decisions in our life time ii know when i spoke to my wife about what is going to happen when she dies was to hardest conversation i have ever had, i love my wife like you love your dad but we have to tell them its ok to leave us behind & that we will have some great memories that they to will take with them. Every day i tell my wife have much i love her because i never know when the time will come that i won't be able to say to her i love her. Hi i hope this message doesn't give anyone the idea that there is no hope. My wife was diagnosed with multiple tumours late February, she has been in & out of hospital since & 2 weeks ago she was moved to a Continuing Care Hospital for Pallative Management. In all she has been in hospital for 5 weeks now & is growing weaker everyday, she has had multiple seizures this week due to the Brain Tumours. I have had to stop work to just be by her side through this time, my wife does not have long to live & will leave behind a stronger husband & 16yr old son & together we are determined to stay strong & help other people who are about to or are going through the same thing. My wife has to this day not given up, she is still fighting this horrible desease & will until the day she closes her eyes for the last time. I urge anyone going through a similar thing to stay positive & ensure your partner, parent, family or friend that you will be behind them 100%, this is what these people need to hear to keep them positive. ... I am truly sorry to hear what you are going through but you are not alone. My wife was diagnosed in February & 5 month's down the track things are not good, unfortunately all treatment has stopped due to the aggressive nature of this horrible desease.
