Definitely get tested - and if low they will recommend supplements. As I said previously I was on double dose of capsules for it and the levels barely shifted.
Thyroid is a good idea but I would also really recommend hormone level tests. Not sure how old you are but I found that the stress of surgery/ treatment etc apparently thrust me straight into menopause. One of the doctor's I was seeing suggested it. I didn't even give that a thought!
But like you I was SO fatigued and just never seemed to get on top of it no matter what I tried.
I have an hour's drive to work each day (3 days a week)and even up to 6 months later I used to cry all the way there - wondering what I was doing it for! But I wanted to persevere, hoping I would eventually feel a bit better - and apart from the extreme exhaustion I actually liked my job.
Anyway have started on HRT (3 weeks)and can't believe how much better I am starting to feel. Wish I had thought of it earlier!! And despite some negative press about increase breast cancer risk (my doctor wasn't concerned just said keep up with mammograms and just take it for 2 years) - it's worth it to just feel half human again.
Hope you can get some answers soon!
Blessings

Hi Jules2
Yes tried everything - and also ate those kinds of food prior to finding out I was Vit D deficient.
Not that there are many foods and I guess as you get older nothing seems to work as well as it used to!
Interesting you should comment just now as I haven't had my levels checked since last time I posted and I have had a return of the aching hands and feet!
Might be time for a GP visit again :-)
thanks
hope you are well

Had xrays again yesterday. Ready to go back to the Oncologist in Sydney next week.
Something lifted last week and the chronic fatigue is now only fatigue! Well its an improvement!!
Several rounds of antibiotics later my ear and throat infection seem almost gone, just niggles of pain, so that helped.
Generally I feel I am improving - thank you God.
I am seeking joy!!!! I haven't enJOYed anything for ages, so thought I should put some effort into finding some.
I hope eveyone out there can find some joy in their lives also, despite circumstances
Bless you all

Hi Ruby,
Be Strong! And when you are running out of things to be thankful for get a puppy or a kitten. They bring such joy! And they love unconditionally.
They bring some fun and smiles back into your life! (and a little bit of poop!)

Hi Daniel
One of the things that you may find helpful to do is find somewhere to be a volunteer worker. Choose a field that you are interested in like the homeless or a children's hospital or youth work.
It is such a great joy to help others, can take your mind off things. And also it's flexible!! If you're not feeling well one day you don't have to go AND you don't lose your job. It's the best and also you will find that what ever community you get involved with they will become like family and will end up giving you support too.
I can recommend it!

Hi Kasa
Do you have family that you can move closer to? Support can make all the difference and suppost and help for your kids also. Moving is a pain I know but so is doing this alone.

Hi All
Doctor discovered I had seriously low levels of vitamin D about a year ago - pre cancer diagnosis.
After taking double recommended doses for about 6 months the reading when taken again had gone up by only 4 points. Another 25 or so needed to be at the bare minimum! Another 6 months have seen it reach 50 whih is the bottom of acceptable levels.
Found no difference in 'mood' things but did gain some improvement in aching joimnts, particularly fingers and feet.
Still eprsevering - Doctor wants levels higher still.

Hi Pamela, If its any consolation I am 'glad' to hear that someone else is struggling with the same as I have. No one told me just how absolutley exhausted I would be following treatment. My expectations were that I would bounce back and get back into all the usual things after a couple of weeks. NOT SO!! I have been SO tired (plus pain and dry mouth etc)that I can't seem to manage to do anything more than the bare essentials.
Because I didn;t realise any of that was likely I have been extremely frustrated and some what depressed with how little I can do and so I have just begun looking for answers, only to discover that a lot of this was to be expected.
I wish someone had told me sooner, it would have helped so much and I would have lowered my expectations of myself and thus would have coped better I think.
I am sorry for you, I understand exactly what you are saying.
One day at a time I guess.
A friend recently reminded me to try to find the things I used to enjoy and try to 'revisit' them - at least then it gives you a bit of something nice to think about.
Blessings, mg
