Tammy, there are no words that I can give that will make any of this better for you. I hope that knowing you are fulfilling your husbands wishes brings some comfort to you. May you find some small comfort in knowing that there will now be no more suffering for him.
Please take care and I hope that the thoughts we are all sending your way are giving you some comfort.

I am so sorry to hear about what you are going through. I lost my mum to breast cancer 6 years ago. It is such a tough journey to go through. You just need to take each day as it comes, there is no knowing what you are going to feel each and every day. There is no doubt that your mother is cherishing having you there to support her. Don't hide your emotions from her too much because she is still your mum and she knows that you are hurting. I don't know what it is like to have children at the time as I had my children after my mother passed.
Be strong but let yourself feel. As a female, losing your mum is like losing a part of you. I wish I could say that it will get easier, but I am still struggling to come to terms with the loss. I am doing better but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish that I could pick up the phone and talk to her.
If I can be of support in any way, please don't hesitate to message me.
Take care
Susan

Hi everyone, my name is Susan. I am 33, a wife and mother of 2. I recently met with a breast surgeon at Peter Mac to start the ball rolling on my decision to have a double mastectomy and reconstruction. My decision to go down this path is due to a number of factors, these being that my mother passed away from breast cancer 6 years ago, I carry the brca1 gene and I have 2 beautiful children that I want to see grow up. The decision for me has really been quite easy, I don't want myself or my family to have to go through what mum went through and if it means getting new boobs then so be it. If anyone out there has been through this process, I'd love to chat with you and hear about your experience.
