Hi, I was diagnosed 8 weeks prior to Christmas 2012 with Pancreatic cancer which has metastasized to the liver. Stage 4, so no surgery. Have started on Clinical trial, have had two Gemcetebine treatments.
So far the only symptom of the cancer was jaundice which has been corrected with a stent, I am still pain free and have little side effects from the chemo though I have some clotting around original treatment site so have to have 4 weeks of daily injection of a blood thinner.
I wake up each morning wondering if this will be the day that I start having symptoms. Has anyone else had a diagnosis like mine with a prognosis of months not years and yet still not experience symptoms? Aisiebarb

Hello Barbkeith, I am on a Clinical Trial PAN1 and patients are randomised by computer as to whether they will receive FOLFOX or Gemcetebine and for better or worse I was allocated to Gemcetebine.
So I am unable to give you any information about experienced side effects though from reading material it seems as though FOLFOX is harder to tolerate than Gemcetebine. I was interested to read that you were diagnosed 2 years ago as much of what I have been told led me to believe that my prognosis was months not years. To date I have had a stent inserted but otherwise have little or no symptoms of Pancreatic cancer (and mine hss metastasised to the liver. Like you I know that this cancer can't be cured but I am hoping for a bit more time.

About two months ago I was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer plus two lesions on my liver. I am taking part in a clinical trial and have had two treatments with Gemcetabine.
Is it unusual that I have no symptoms? other than jaundice which has been corrected with the aid of a stent 1 month ago.
Also I have little side effects from the chemo.
I keep expecting to wake up one morning and feel unwell, has anyone else had my experience and how long will I continue to feel well?
