Hi, I'm just looking for some advice or help or 2nd opinions with this issue. My wife went to skin clinic to check out a dangerous looking mole on her leg. Approx 1cm in diameter. Doctor told her it was fine and to just keep an eye on it. Wife wasnt happy with diagnosis and just had a gut feeling about it. She booked in to get it removed anyway. 3 days later was told by another Doctor the mole was a melanoma, its possibly spread and they want to cut into her leg in the hope they are able to get all the cancer cells. The Doc who cut it out was the same one who said the mole was fine and also says he he is "not confident" operating on her leg so another Doc will do it. Questions are, 1. Should we get a 2nd opinion regarding the melanoma as my faith in this clinic is below average. My wife doesn't want a 10cm scar for nothing. 2. Can a melanoma mole be incorrectly diagnosed 3. How can Doctors at a skin cancer clinic miss a mole that is a melanoma. 4. Doctors say there is a 20% chance they wont get the all the cancer cells. That seems quite high?
