I'm stage 3c bowel cancer. On my 3rd cycle out of 8 of oxaliplatin infusion and oral capecitabine . Just been experiencing a fair amount of shortness of breath and chest tightness when I do stuff. ct scan shows no nasties floating around my lungs. So relieved about that! Is it a side effect of the chemo??

I have bowel cancer stage 3c. Surgery went great. I'm onto my 2nd cycle out of 8 of iv oxaliplatin and oral capecitabine . I just wondered if you found the side effects got worse with each cycle or you could expect the same. Thanks.

I have bowel cancer stage 3c. My surgery went really well. I'm on the capecitabine oral chemo for 8 cycles now in my 2nd. I have 3000mg a day and also my oxaliplatin infusion every 3 weeks . I find the capecitabine way easier to manage than the infusion . I get a bit of nausea, some neuropathy , dry skin , lips and if course tiredness ! All very manageable at the moment . Make sure you have a variety of anti nausea meds to keep nausea at bay so you can eat. Hope that helps!

I'm on xelox for bowel cancer and it's definitely nothing compared to my iv infusion I have. I take 3000mg a day and I get a bit of nausea, dry skin, lips, abit of neuropathy and the usual tiredness all very manageable though.

I had bowel surgery 7 wks ago. I had a renal bleed so ended up being opened up otherwise it eould have been just laproscopically. When I got home a week later I was on targin (oxycodone slow release) for about 5 weeks on a weaning dose. I tried to stop twice but it was too soon . I'm off it now but still get twinges and after a couple of shifts at work I'm sore. So be kind to yourself and let your body heal in it's own time. My surgeon said this was all normal . Hope that's helpful! @Maxgail wrote: How long after surgery should pain and discomfort persist.
