Hi Mozz good to hear you are well...same here on dry mouth and taste...i am 9 mo out of treatment and they say i am doing well but it certainly is a new normal...all my favorite foods and drinks now taste like flour and water and the beer tastes like rubbing alcohol...but i guess its due to the scar tissue which i also have plenty of.   problem i have now is anemia...my cancer doctors think nothing of it but my gp is not feel that way...he has been testing blood and due back again in a couple weeks....do you know if anemia is common with throat cancer treatment and the gp is missing something....how are your blood tests...are you back to where you used to be prior to treatment ?   i had a PET 3 mo out of treatment and it was clear....and all doctors say unless something pops up they will not do another pet again and just do chest xray once a year ?   how many PET's have you had since treatment....they also told me i can have one anytime if I REQUEST IT but they never do another one unless symptoms pop up ???   my symptoms were something but now under control....i ended my treatment Oct 4 but had to use my stomach tube until May....could not eat due to taste and get sick thinking about food...my symptoms post treatment were dramatically worse than during treatment...without the stomach tube i believe i would have not made it...Capt. Australia really helped me to decide to get a PEG tube and i might have been that one in a gazillion like he was that truly needed it but he saved my life because i could not face eating food and as a result i stayed hydrated and maintained all my weight thru the treatment and post treatment with the PEG and would truly recommend it to anyone going for treatment...its now that i cant eat that much and loosing some weight...down about 10lbs from previous weight because i am not an eater like i used to be...its all one taste of nothing but i get thru it but cant do quantity so i supplement with protein drinks with the meal.... ???   i am grateful to have made it and hope over time we will all get better and back to a better normal from where we are and continue to improve and that it is the end of it for cancer...time will tell   stay safe with the virus and all....   regards Bill ... thanks for all that info....yes magic mouthwash helps but here is sort of weak and doesnt last long....i am keeping an eye on the mucositis to see if it spreads....   wishing you a clear PET...keep us all posted....   point of interest...i had a PET 3 months out and i asked my radiologist when is the next PET and he said NEVER....i said NEVER and he said i have been doing this over 29 years and i NEVER do another PET unless while scoping or patient eval shows a possible problem then i scan but it happens far and few between and he said with tonsil and throat he has never seen a re occurrence of cance  ????   the schedule is to be scooped every month....one by him and next month by ENT....i asked my ENT about the PET and he said the same thing...NEVER   my chemo radiologist said he would do one 6 mo out...when i told the other 2 doctors they said they would never ever do that without symptoms but i can do what i want....   and people wonder why they call it a practice.....i see new advertising all the time Dr.xxx opened his new medical PRACTICE and is accepting new patients....scary stuff   regards and stay well Bill ... wow, all your fillings are starting to fall out !!  my dr. said no problem getting cleaning 6 weeks out and even fillings....luckily i didnt need fillings but my dr. said cleaning and fillings and fine but NO EXTRACTIONS....i understand extractions are the kiss of death for LIFE with what we have ?   who do we believe...   keep the faith, i am trying to....time may heal  some of this pain and agony like many have written is the case for them and i look forward to the day   regards Bill ... thanks jen well its just impossible with the doctors since they dont follow the patient problems like they should...and try to get in for follow up is near impossible except monthly for scoping...   i appreciate your thoughts and experience and hope it all come together for you again...at this point my ability to smell food is perfect...my taste is zero...texture is horrible and hunger non existant....so i use the peg for drinks...they wanted to give me prescrip for   saliva stimulation and when i read the side affects of ALL it is nothing i would ever put in my body with all i am up against...   thanks and best wishes Bill ... Hi Capt yes, i have about quarter bottle of magic mouthwash from last episode of thrush but it only lasts about 5 minutes and the pain is back...the way each dr mixes the magic m is different so mine may not be that good?   i have started taking the prescipt for the thrush and will watch the mucositis to see if it keeps spreading  since there doesnt appear to anything to cure it   always something....   thanks Bill ...
