I have just had my first Chemo treatment yesterday and I have 5 more to go. I am terrified of getting COVID-19 because I have a 12 year old son who needs me. I am also having Radiation Therapy after Chemo finishes. I feel alone because family and friends can't help out and most support services are closed down. I also suffer from a chronic mental illness which I normally access treatment in hospital every 6 weeks but the treatment has been suspended. I become very unwell without my mental health treatment and nothing else works. So I feel I have Cancer working against me, my mental health working against me, limited support and now COVID-19. Most days I can be positive but today I am feeling anxious and down.

Hi, I am 45 year old Mum diagnosed with endometrial Cancer 3 weeks ago . I had a radical hysterectomy and my first round of Chemo is planned for next week. I will probably need radiation therapy but my appointment with the Radiation Oncologist is in a few weeks. I have been struggling with sky high anxiety due to having Chemo during COVID 19. I have also felt angry, scared, shocked, sad, alone and frustrated. I also have bipolar which complicates things. Can anyone give me tips for getting through Chemo? Anything specific to people with Cancer and Mental Illness? Just a kind word would be comforting. Take Care.

Hi Claire, I have Endometrial Cancer which was diagnosed 3 weeks ago. I have had a complete hysterectomy since then and I start Chemo in 6 days. I haven’t seen the Radiation Oncologist yet so I have no clue what is happening with that. I am feeling overwhelmed, angry, sad, scared, hopeful and terrified. I Just got the courage to call the Queensland Cancer Fund today who told me about this forum. I also have bipolar which complicates things. I wish you all the best with your treatment.
