Day 1 officially starts today. Day 0 was the long trip from home to Perth which took some time especially the final section where I carried my luggage from the train station down the dark streets past the hospital and to the place I am staying at. No money, no food, very few clothes, tired and here by myself. Went to Shenton Park to buy some food as I have to be able to carry back what I buy. The need to find a shorter route outside the hospital became obvious as I trudged down some unnamed street back to the accommodation. So back to day 1 and the need to drink around 2 litres in the next 10 minutes is not looking good as the radiotherapy starts in one hours time. Guess I better get my a into g and drink on my way over to the hospital.

So that is that, lay there all aligned and watch as the machine does it's job all under the control of the technicians. Feel nothing or different. The Hernia is going me more grief as that has not gotten over the September operation(s) so I should not drag luggage and food and just get a taxi instead or the hernia may pop its stitches and then the surgeon will be annoyed with me. Again. Back tomorrow

Hiya Where did you travel from to get back to Perth? Are you having treatment in Perth? I stayed with the cancer council which was completely covered by PATS and only had to pay for food. Sounds like you are doing things a bit tough!! Julie

Yes Jules2 I am using PATS and cancer council is taking care of me thanks (cancer council) The tough part is unemployed and no centrelink benefits. Centrelink has policies and procedures to follow so I manage to not meet a policy so cashed in all the super funds to get through this problem maybe further down the track I will get a job to sort my life out again.

Hiya Ok, glad that you have tapped into pats and the cancer council. It is tough going through this stuff even if you can get centrelink benefits. It just does not seem right that you have to cash in your superannuation to support yourself through a cancer diagnosis!
