Hi all, I am new here. My name is Gigi and I am 29 years old.

About a year ago, my father passed away. He had colon cancer.
just last week, my mother was also diagnosed with this cancer. I am in shock. I am going through the hardest time of my life and I don’t know what to do!

my mom is basically my life...I have no siblings and my Dad had been out of the picture for years and years. I am truly devastated.
We are supposed to go for her colonoscopy on Thursday so they can do the biopsy and tell us what treatment options we can start with.
I am so scared. any advice please?

Stay strong. Until you know what your dealing with ...as in treatment. Don’t think the worst

and spend as much time together making memories you both can share  after her treatment.xx

Hi GigiSaid,

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum (and Dad).

I wouldn't stress out too much at this stage. They won't know a great deal about the cancer at this stage, so it may well still be an early stage.

Try not to stress out too much about what you don't know. You could well be worrying needlessly.

After the colonoscopy hopefully they will have some idea of what stage the cancer is. Depending on the stage, the treatment options will vary.

Take a note pad with you to these appointments with your Mum. Write down what is discussed with the medical staff. Trust me on this.
