New member here - supporting Mum with cancer

Hi everyone, I'm here to support my Mum who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma 3 years ago. She has not had any treatment to date, as she's in the very early stages of the disease - however lately she's gone downhill and her oncologist wants her to get a bone marrow aspiration. Mum is petrified of having a bone marrow aspiration as she's heard they're very painful and can't be given under general anaesthetic. Does anyone know if it's possible for a bone marrow aspiration to be done under general anaesthetic? (or some other form of anaesthetic that makes you completely unaware of the pain)? Thanks!
