Is it just me or does everyone seem to crumble around you as soon as you tell them you have cancer
I know what you mean, Leeman. I'm new to this, diagnosed a month ago with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
I don't know so much if people crumble, as such, or if they genuinely don't know what to do or say. I'm trying to think back to when I didn't have cancer and if someone had told me that they did. I've always been a very supportive person, overly so, in fact, so I would have shown a lot of empathy and I would also have been positive in my response. But then that's just me.
Perhaps people just view the word 'cancer' in different ways. To some it means a death sentence. To others a fight. I think in many ways we ignite their own fears when we tell them about what we're going through.
Regardless, I notice that your post was from back in January. I hope things are working out well for you.
Kind regards
Colin
