This is my story as short as possible.
Imagine going to the doctor with a bladder-infection, only to be told after a lengthy examination that you have incurable, deadly pancreatic cancer!
An operation would have been extremely difficult and messy because the cancer had spread into the blood vessels, which would have to be reconstructed. The surgeon explained that this operation would be dangerous even for a 50-year-old person, and it would not be recommended for me, an 81-year-old male. Another recommendation from an oncologist was heavy chemotherapy with a container of fluid attached to my body day and night, as well as daily radiation therapy, plus continuous scans and blood tests to check for effectiveness. This could take a more than a month depending on the outcome.
This extreme treatment could extend my life to some degree, from months perhaps even a year, all without any guaranty. Even if it was successful it still would only be a partial success as with all likelihood the cancer would reappear at one stage. If his treatment would be as pleasant as sitting in front of a tanning lamp in a solarium I could be considering it, of course in reality this treatment is not only stressful but extremely effecting my quality of life. I considered that managing 81 years of happy life is in general terms not a bad average and decided not to interfere with Ops and wait out my time and at the end get help to die peacefully.
I don't know how else I could express myself, perhaps someone could contact me with some hope.
