I have just been diagnosed with lung cancer. I have not had a biopsy yet so don't know the type. My appointment to see a specialist is not until 31/10/2025, this seems a long time and I am worried the cancer could spread elsewhere and my shortness of breath seems to be getting worse. I didn't notice any symptons until the 20/09/2025 when I was extremely short of breath on a bike ride, then a cough developed and hey presto you have got lung cancer. Is this a normal scenario? Any reassurance re timelines. Any advice appreciated.
Hi I was diagnosed with lung cancer 2.5 weeks ago after going back to the doctor when anti biotics steroids and asthma meds dis not clear up a cough. I took myself to emergency when a ct scan suspected a blood clot on the lung and discovered ihad a 4cm mass on my right lung. Lucky they kept me in hospital and did several scans a pet scan an an mri of the brain
Thankfully as far as they can tell it has not spread but it has gone to lymph nodes within the lung. I only had the biopsy 3 days ago so find out the stage in 3 more days! Absolute agony I know. Try not to worry too much only a couple of weeks. You could always go to emergency and tell them your struggling to breathe and the diagnosis. They may do more tests to ease your mind. Tell them your not going anywhere until you get some answers! Good luck and keep me posted. 🤞
I'm sorry for your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. Things seemed to move along very quickly. In April, 2025 I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. This time it seems all I do is sit around and wait. I just had surgery October 6 to remove the cancer. I voiced my concern many times that I felt things were moving too slowly and I was concerned about the cancer spreading. I don't think doctors realize the anxiety their patients have when the get a cancer diagnosis, which is a shame. I wish you the best of luck. Keep us posted please.
Thanks for the advice. I have had my PET scan three days ago, now waiting for the next step, which I assume will be a biopsy. I am just hoping that I have had all the required tests before my appointment on 30/10. Good luck with your prognosis and treatment.
The anxiety is definitely high. I have had my PET scan, now waiting for the next step, which I assume is a biopsy, I just hope I have had all the required tests before my appointment. I hope you are recovering well and you have some certainty with your treatment plan.
Just had four days in hospital, 2.7L of fluid drained off my left lung + procedure to minimise it returning. The biopsy of the fluid identified as Adenocarcinoma, so I don’t need a biopsy, expecting an appointment with medical oncology next week (fingers crossed). I am a number of days ahead of where I expected to be. So, ending up in hospital was a positive outcome with regards my ongoing treatment it is brought it forward at least 10 days.
