I'm including your birthday in my poem 😁
A very happy birthday 🎁🎂🍾to you @Lampwork54, I hope it's a wonderful weekend & doesn't tire you out too much. That's good info about the dettol cream - very handy to know.
Not much has been happening with me since my holiday @Lehiatus, sorry for my late reply. Things have been very quiet, which is very nice. Our new family member has settled in well & I'm getting lots of cuddles.
@PhilPepper, you're going to wear yourself out if you take care of your friend as well as yourself. As Lampwork said, by all means, be there for him, but only when & if he needs you. You need to concentrate on your own healing before you can do anyone else good. I'm looking forward to reading your poem. You are such a character & in a way remind me of my husband. He never stops - is always making up little ditties, & making me laugh. The world needs more people like him.
It's been a lovely day today, I hope you've all had a good one. 🌞
Budgie
Notes on a page
They've poured out their souls
Canonized in script
The hardship and tolls
Unloaded burdens
Weakness and pain
And a new founded wisdom
A little dark and insane
They're all sewn together
Bound by a thread
Stitched by a ginger
Who's out of her head
By her own admission
She's somewhat nuts
She dancers with cancer
But watch how she struts
She leads with bold steps
She lock steps with ease
Spins like a ballerina
Only pausing for cheese
She mod-rocks the tango
A cart wheel and flip
But when she does the robot
It all turns to shit
When she first came along
And sewed her first stitch
She poured out her heart
In her very first pitch
And to polish it off
She sent us well wishes
And buttoned it up
With a couple of kisses
Before I continue
Before I go on
Is it anyone's birthday?
No? Let's move on
Then out came the mob
Seizing the filum
They were all lunatics
Taking over the asylum
They were baring their souls
Exposing their pain
Sharing their wisdom
They were truly insane
They hijacked the thread
And they wouldn't shut up
Why can't those buggers
Just bottle it up
They were going for the record
But a record for what
There was no contest
They'd all lost the plot
Now I must ask again
Is it someone's birthday?
Anyone? Anyone?
Let's be on our way.
There were photos of dogs
Now how cute is that?
But it all fell to pieces
Someone posted a cat.
Now a cat and a Budgie
Sounds quite absurd
But the bestest of buddies
This cat and a bird
And then there was KateKat
She's a Kat too
Brandishing photos
Of her cockatoo
But someone had cows
Did somebody dob?
They demanded some photos
The unruly mob
So photos they got
And the photos did please
The cows were so cute
Cows can make cheese 🙂
So a birthday call
I'm asking again
Is it anyone's birthday?
We'll continue then.
Along come PhilPepper
A dashing young hunk
He had a bag full of jokes
But all of them stunk
He tried to spread wisdom
But did not go to plan
He soon discovered
He was a student again
Sometimes he felt lost
Something he felt bled
He felt so many feelings
While riding this thread
But he felt rewarded
Whenever he knew
He'd helped out a luny
Riding this thread too
It's the last time I'll ask
The last chance to say
Tell me if it is
Your birthday today
YES! WE'VE A WINNER
She's made sixty five
Finished her treatment
And stoked she's alive
Come on everybody
It's a birthday song
Please raise your voices
Let's all sing along
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
You look like a lamp
And you work like one too
Don't read too much in
To the words of that ditty
Didn't try very hard
I'm sorry it's shitty
Now if there's no one
If there's no one else
I'll continue this poem
It ain't writing itself.
So many artists
So many tunes
Classic old songs
To spoil the lunes
We've had Bowie and Queen
And Sir Elton John
And of course Monty Python
With the best cancer song
So let's end on a line
Well known and rife
We must always look
On the bright side of life
Nah! That's not the end.
It's just a tease
Life is much better
Much better with cheese

Phil, Phil, Phil - best post ever! Fantastic job. Mde me smile and laugh all the way through!
Holy shit Pepper, I mean Phil,
You sure are talented with a quill!
It made me giggle, sing, and gasp,
Seriously, way better birthday present
than a card.
So now we know, you’re an artist, it’s true,
is there anything you cannot do?
I’ve run out of rhymes, my brain is dead,
I think it may be time for bed,
So again I’ll say
‘Praise Phil, who writes with ease,
and knows that the greatest poetry should end with cheese.’
I tip my hat to you sir!
Absolutely fabulous Phil 🤣🤣🤣
Good morning all.
Hope you all slept very well last night. I had my birthday party last night with ice-cream cake - so I could eat some. It was lovely having 18 people - my children and their children to celebrate. After 9 weeks of quiet time - it was hell. Loud, noisy and very crazy. I had to stretch my bed time to 9.30pm!! My family was way over the top and I think they had been saving themselves to release their stress and celebrate their happiness - all over a few hours of time. Lots of flowers and plants which were beautiful. My two daughters and a few grandchildren in this photo. See - crazy loud!
My husband likes jokes and crazy stunts. He had mentioned during the week that we should empty this clear glass skull of vodka that we'd had for years and put water in it. He would then pour me a big glass full and we would freak out our children when I skulled it as I'm not much of a drinker. He thought it would be hilarious. Sometime at the party, he brought out the skull and a glass. Poured me a big glass full. I picked it up looking at him. Totally unsure firstly, if he changed it to water and could taste it wasn't water? Luckily it was water and I drank it straight down to the horror of my kids.
On a serious note, one of my grand daughters has very long hair. She's going to continue to grow it and then have it cut off next year to donate it to cancer patients for wigs. I looked it up this morning and this is the procedure in case you need it in future. I went to a wig place last week and costed a human hair wig at $3,400.00. A little expensive for me.
