Two cancers

I had notice an abnormal testes but forgot to make appointment with my GP.

After finally making an appointment,  long storey short. I had a testicular cancer. A two weeks before Xmas 2025, was very fast tracked for storing samples, a barrage of tests and scans the finally surgery, a week before Xmas.

Surgery was a success, they got everything, very minimal pain and a month or a week after tumour markers were low and scans clear.

I was transferred to a wonderful Oncologist after the all clear to monitor.

I had another round of blood test, scan etc .

My mum joined my appointment on 17th April and my Onc gave me the (expected) result of definitely a cancererous lesion on external lower lobe left lung (20mm).

His treatment was chemo and explained everything well without surgery coating it.

Last week I had a biopsy and PICC line put in. Not a fun journey.

I have just started my first of three treatments for five hours of chemo drugs today with the cold cap.

I feel tired but ok.

Re: Two cancers

Hi @JustinB

You've been through a lot - two cancer diagnoses and subsequent treatments are a huge thing to navigate. It's great you've reached out here as it can really help to process what you've gone through and are going through.

Wishing you all the best with your chemo sessions and I do hope the cold cap helps in the longer term with the effects of the chemo on your hair and that things go as best as they possibly can for you.

It sounds like your oncologist has explained things really well, here is a booklet on lung cancer that also may offer a little more insight for you. If you have any more questions and/or would like to talk to someone about support options, you can give the team of health professionals on 13 11 20 a call and they'd be happy to listen and help.

Stay strong
